A. George Dass, M.D.
A longtime member of the OrthoMichigan family, Dr. Dass joined the practice in 1993, specializing in hand and upper-extremity surgery. Born in India and raised in Michigan, Dr. Dass earned his undergraduate degree in biomedical sciences, as well as his medical degree, from the University of Michigan. He completed post-education with a general surgery internship and orthopedic residency at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio. Fellowship-trained in combined hand surgery from Tufts University, Dr. Dass is currently assistant clinical professor for the Department of Surgery for Michigan University’s College of Human Medicine and associate chairman for the Orthopedic Training Program at McLaren Regional Medical Center. In his free time, Dr. Dass enjoys spending time with friends and family, golfing and rooting for U of M football.
David A. Fernandez, M.D.
With nearly two decades expertise in the field of orthopedics, Dr. Fernandez has spent 13 of those years as a member of OrthoMichigan. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan and medical degree at Michigan State University. Dr. Fernandez completed post-education with a surgical internship and orthopedic residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York and spine fellowship at Spinal Associates of North Central Florida. Upon graduation, Dr. Fernandez joined the United States Navy and served four years as an active-duty sailor and surgeon, receiving many awards and recognitions for his servitude. When Dr. Fernandez is not restoring his patients to better function, he enjoys outdoor activities, playing the cello, spending time with his family and rooting for MSU basketball and U of M football.
Matthew W. Hettle, M.D.
A native of Michigan, Dr. Hettle joined OrthoMichigan in 1995 as the practice’s only physiatrist, specializing in physical medicine and electrodiagnostic studies (EMGs). Dr. Hettle earned his undergraduate degree from Williams College, medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine, and completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at William Beaumont Hospital. With over a decade experience practicing physiatry, Dr. Hettle’s favorite part of his job is educating his patients. When he’s not at work, Dr. Hettle enjoys skiing, reading history books and cooking.
Susan M. Mosier-LaClair, M.D.
A member of OrthoMichigan since 2000, Dr. Mosier-LaClair is fellowship-trained in foot and ankle orthopedic surgery. Born and raised in Bay City, Michigan, Dr. Mosier-LaClair earned an undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Oakland University, medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, completed residency at Wayne State University’s Detroit Medical Center and fellowship at Portland Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Center. With over a decade practicing in the field of orthopedics, Dr. Mosier-LaClair’s favorite thing about her job is getting to meet and talk to new and interesting people throughout the day. She also loves joking around with her medical assistant. In Dr. Mosier-LaClair’s free time, she enjoys horseback riding, Taekwondo, playing guitar and hanging out with her kids.
Sidney N. Martin, M.D.
Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Martin joined the OrthoMichigan family in March of 1999 with specialties in shoulder and knee surgery. Dr. Martin earned his undergraduate degree and master’s degree in biology from the University of Richmond and his medical degree from Medical College of Virginia. He completed post-education with a general internship and orthopedic residency at McLaren Regional Medical Center. With over two decades expertise in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Martin continues to serve his patients by helping them return to active lifestyles and an improved quality of life. When he’s not in the operating room, Dr. Martin enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, cycling and rooting for the Richmond Spiders. Patients would be surprised to learn Dr. Martin served 24 years in the Air National Guard and has been deployed four times since 1991 in defense of our nation.
Gordon McClimans II, D.O.
Born in Missouri and raised in Michigan, Dr. McClimans earned his undergraduate degree at Northeast Missouri State University and medical degree at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed post-education with an internship at Genesys Regional Medical Center and orthopedic residency at Hillcrest Health Center in Oklahoma City. Before joining OrthoMichigan in 2007, Dr. McClimans spent years as an orthopedic surgeon with offices in Lapeer and Cass City. Today, he currently serves as the section chief of orthopedic surgery at Lapeer Regional Medical Center and participates on several LRMC committees. When he’s not working, Dr. McClimans enjoys spending time outdoors, watching old Western films and rooting for Detroit sports teams.
Matthew C. Sardelli, M.D.
A native of Michigan and relative newcomer to the OrthoMichigan family, Dr. Sardelli specializes in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree in physiology from Michigan State University, where he also became a certified athletic trainer, and received his medical degree from Wayne State University. Dr. Sardelli completed post-education with a residency at Detroit Medical Center and later the University of Utah, as well as a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at TRIA Orthopedic Center in Minnesota. What Dr. Sardelli enjoys most about practicing medicine is helping athletes of all ages and abilities return to an active lifestyle. When he’s not working, Dr. Sardelli spends time hiking, biking and golfing. His favorite movie is “Caddyshack.” He can be found rooting for the Detroit Tigers, and patients may not know this about him, but Dr. Sardelli loves comic books.
Ajay K. Srivastava, M.D.
A relative newcomer to the OrthoMichigan family, Dr. Srivastava brings with him a specialty in adult reconstruction. Born and raised in India, Dr. Srivastava earned his undergraduate and medical degree in Mumbai before moving to the States to complete post-education at McLaren Regional Medical Center and a research fellowship in adult reconstruction. Fluent in Hindi and English, Dr. Srivastava enjoys hearing from patients that surgery has made a big difference in their lifestyle. When he’s not in the operating room, Dr. Srivastava spends his time playing tennis.
Paul M. Telehowski, M.D.
With over a decade experience in general orthopedics, Dr. Telehowski specializes in joint replacement, trauma and sports medicine. Born and raised in Michigan, Dr. Telehowski completed his undergraduate degree in science and chemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Telehowski continued his post-education with general surgery residency and orthopedic surgery residency at McLaren Regional Center in Flint. He joined the OrthoMichigan family in 2004 and his favorite thing about being a physician is taking care of people. When he’s not in the operating room, Dr. Telehowski enjoys spending time with his family and rooting for the Tigers, Red Wings and Lions.
Norman Walter, M.D.
A native of Michigan, Dr. Walter has been with OrthoMichigan for over 34 years. He joined the practice in 1978 after earning an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, medical degree from Wayne State University’s School of Medicine, and completing post-education with a general surgery internship and orthopedic residency at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Specializing in orthopedic surgery of the hip and knee, Dr. Walter is also an oral examiner for the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and associate professor of orthopedic surgery for Michigan State University. When he’s not in the operating room, Dr. Walter enjoys spending time with his grandkids. Patients would be surprised to learn that Dr. Walter knows how to drive a bulldozer and, if the situation arises, is able to deliver a calf.
Seann E. Willson, M.D.
A native of Michigan, Dr. Willson joined OrthoMichigan in 2008 and is the practice’s only fellowship-trained lower extremity specialist. Dr. Willson completed an undergraduate degree at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, medical degree at Wayne State University’s School of Medicine, internship and orthopedic residency at University of Chicago, and a fellowship in lower extremity reconstruction and hip and knee replacement at Scripps Clinic in San Diego, California. When Dr. Willson’s not working, she enjoys cooking, yoga, spending time with family and friends, reading science fiction and rooting for the Red Wings.
John J. Lim Yap, M.D.
Born in the Philippines and raised in Southern California, Dr. Yap earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and medical degree at Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed post-education with a general surgery internship and orthopedic residency at McLaren Regional Medical Center, and a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. With over 14 years experience specializing in sports medicine and adult reconstruction, as well as hand, shoulder and knee surgery, Dr. Yap is a partner at OrthoMichigan. When he’s not at the practice or performing surgical procedures at various affiliated hospitals and surgery centers, Dr. Yap enjoys physical activities like golf, bowling and fishing, rooting for the Green Bay Packers, watching comedies, and cooking gourmet meals.
