Matthew W. Hettle, M.D.

A native of Michigan, Dr. Hettle joined OrthoMichigan in 1995 as the practice’s only physiatrist, specializing in rehabilitation and electrodiagnostic medicine. Dr. Hettle earned his undergraduate degree from Williams College, medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine, and completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at William Beaumont Hospital. With over a decade of experience practicing physiatry, Dr. Hettle’s favorite part of his job is educating his patients. When he’s not at work, Dr. Hettle enjoys skiing, reading history books and cooking.
Richard A. Moyer, D.O.
A. George Dass, M.D.

A longtime member of the OrthoMichigan family, Dr. Dass specializes in hand, elbow, and shoulder surgery. He earned his undergraduate degree in biomedical sciences, as well as his medical degree, from the University of Michigan through the accelerated Interflex program. He completed an orthopedic residency at Cleveland Clinic and afterward did a hand and elbow fellowship in Boston. Dr. Dass is currently an associate clinical professor for the Department of Surgery for Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine and associate chairman for the Orthopedic Training Program at Mclaren Flint. In his free time, Dr. Dass enjoys spending time with friends and family, golfing and rooting for U of M football.
Susan M. Mosier-LaClair, M.D.

A member of OrthoMichigan since 2000, Dr. Mosier-LaClair is fellowship-trained in foot and ankle orthopedic surgery. Born and raised in Bay City, Michigan, Dr. Mosier-LaClair earned an undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Oakland University, medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, completed residency at Wayne State University’s Detroit Medical Center and fellowship at Portland Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Center. With over a decade practicing in the field of orthopedics, Dr. Mosier-LaClair’s favorite thing about her job is getting to meet new people throughout the day. In Dr. Mosier-LaClair’s free time she enjoys horseback riding, Taekwondo, playing guitar and hanging out with her kids.
David A. Fernandez, M.D.

Dr. Fernandez joined OrthoMichigan in 1999. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan and medical degree at Michigan State University. Dr. Fernandez completed post-education with a surgical internship and orthopedic residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York and spine fellowship at Spinal Associates of North Central Florida. Upon graduation, Dr. Fernandez joined the United States Navy and served five years as an active-duty sailor and surgeon, receiving many awards and recognitions for his service. He enjoys outdoor activities, playing the cello, spending time with his family and rooting for MSU basketball and U of M football.
Gordon McClimans II, D.O.

Born in Missouri and raised in Michigan, Dr. McClimans earned his undergraduate degree at Northeast Missouri State University and his medical degree at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. His post-education included an internship at Genesys Regional Medical Center and an orthopedic residency at Hillcrest Health Center in Oklahoma City. Before joining OrthoMichigan in 2007, Dr. McClimans practiced as an orthopedic surgeon for several years with offices in Lapeer and Cass City. Today he serves as the section Chief of Orthoedic Surgery at Mclaren Lapeer Regional Hospital and participates in several hospital committees. When he’s not working, Dr. McClimans enjoys spending time with family, watching old western films, rooting on Detroit sports teams, and spending time outdoors.

Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Dr. Moyer earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Cincinnati and his medical degree at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri. He was in family practice for 2 years before completing his internship and orthopedic residency at McLaren Oakland in Pontiac. Dr. Moyer practiced as an orthopedic surgeon for 18 years with offices in Rochester Hills, Oxford and Cass City before joining OrthoMichigan in 2014. When he is not working, Dr. Moyer enjoys fishing, traveling, and working on old cars.
James D. Ostrander, M.D.
Ajay K. Srivastava, M.D.

Dr Srivastava joined OrthoMichigan in 2010. He earned his undergraduate and medical degree in India before moving to the States. He completed a research fellowship in adult reconstruction in San Diego and Orthopedic surgery residency at Mclaren Flint. He has a special interest in anterior hip replacement, partial and total knee replacement. Dr. Srivastava is passionate about clinical research and high quality resident education in Flint.
Dr. Ostrander joined OrthoMichigan full time in August 2018. He worked as a Nurse Practitioner at OrthoMichigan from 2003-2012 before pursuing his medical degree from Michigan State University in 2012. He completed an orthopedic residency at Mclaren Flint in 2017. Dr. Ostrander is OrthoMichigan’s only fellowship trained trauma surgeon.

Belal Tarakji, M.D.

A Flint, Michigan native, Dr. Tarakji joined OrthoMichigan in 2021 after his post-education orthopedic surgery residency at McLaren Regional Medical Center. He specializes in hand and upper extremity injuries and recently completed his orthopedic fellowship in hand and wrist surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Dr. Tarakji received both his undergraduate degree and medical degree at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. When he isn't working, he enjoys hiking, basketball, football, reading, and traveling. He also has a special interest in global health.
Paul M. Telehowski, M.D.

With over a decade experience in general orthopedics, Dr. Telehowski specializes in joint replacement, trauma and sports medicine. Born and raised in Michigan, Dr. Telehowski completed his undergraduate degree in science and chemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Telehowski continued his post-education with general surgery residency and orthopedic surgery residency at McLaren Regional Center in Flint. He joined the OrthoMichigan family in 2004.When he’s not in the operating room, Dr. Telehowski enjoys spending time with his family and rooting for the Tigers, Red Wings and Lions.
Seann E. Willson, M.D.

A native of Michigan, Dr. Willson joined OrthoMichigan in 2008. She completed an undergraduate degree at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, medical degree at Wayne State University’s School of Medicine, internship and orthopedic residency at University of Chicago, and a fellowship in lower extremity reconstruction and hip and knee replacement at Scripps Clinic in San Diego, California. When Dr. Willson’s not working, she enjoys cooking, yoga, and spending time with family and friends.
John J. L. Yap, M.D.
Born in the Philippines and raised in Southern California, Dr. Yap earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and medical degree at Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed post-education with a general surgery internship and orthopedic residency at Mclaren Regional Medical Center, and a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at John Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Yap is a partner at OrthoMichigan with over 20 years of experience specializing in sports medicine and adult reconstruction, as well as hand, shoulder and knee surgery. He enjoys physical activities like golf, bowling, fishing, rooting for Green Bay Packers, watching comedies, and cooking gourmet meals.
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS
Nathan L. Arnold, PA-C

Nathan joined OrthoMichigan in 2016. He earned his undergrad degree in Kinesiology at Michigan State University before completing his Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies at Wayne State University. Nathan grew up playing sports, which is what made him interested in pursuing a career in Orthopedics. In his free time, Nathan enjoys fishing, hunting, woodworking, and rooting for Michigan State with family and friends.
Nicole McKenna, PA-C

Nicole was born in Michigan and raised in Lapeer. She entered the US Air Force from 1991-1997. Nicole was an Aeromedical Specialist and a National Registry EMT Instructor which allowed her to travel throughout the United States instructing fellow airmen in the tactics of Combat Medical Readiness Training. She then became a RN and worked as an Emergency Room nurse at Hurley Medical Center. Nicole went on to graduate with a Master of Science Degree and Physician Assistant Certification from Detroit Mercy. Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband and children and is heavily involved in the Lapeer sports community as a medical liaison for multiple sports teams

A world traveler, Sophie was born in Hungary (and still speaks Hungarian!) and graduated high school in Dubai before earning her undergraduate degree in Athletic Training from Michigan State University where she graduated with honors. She earned her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Chatham University and joined OrthoMichigan in 2020. She played softball and basketball in high school which started her interest in pursuing orthopedics. In her free time, Sophie enjoys hiking, spending time outdoors, reading, and rooting for MSU and the Seattle Mariners.
Sophie Lebrato, PA-C

Kayla joined OrthoMichigan in 2021 after earning her Master’s Degree from the University of Dayton and her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Michigan State University. Kayla treats a wide range of orthopedic conditions. In her free time, she enjoys running and playing with her English Bulldog, Eno.
