Our surgeons at OrthoMichigan are trained to diagnose causes of joint pain and perform partial and total joint replacement if it is in the best interest of the patient. When nonsurgical treatments have failed, joint replacement surgery may eliminate joint pain and restore range of motion.

What To Expect
The day of surgery, you will receive anesthesia to prevent pain during the operation.
After the surgery you will be taken to the recovery room for observation. Once your blood pressure, pulse, and breathing are stable and you are alert, you will be taken to your hospital room.
Our joint replacement operations are designed so you can go within 4 hours after your surgery. This allows you to recover in the comfort of your own home.
Surgery
Physical Therapy
You may have some short-term restrictions with during the first six weeks after surgery depending on the procedure you had. During recovery period at home, you will need to continue doing strengthening exercises and monitor your pain.
After returning home and completing physical therapy, you will find yourself adjusting to your new joint and enjoying a more mobile lifestyle.
Results
Your doctor will give you specific instructions, but many people can get back to their everyday activities fairly quickly.
